Announcing Greg Porter as the New Director of Waves of Service Greg Porter ('87, MBA '03) has been selected as the new director of Waves of Service, which will recognize, inspire, and provide support to alumni across the country and around the world for their service. A graduate of both Seaver College and the Graziadio School of Business and Management and, until now, a resident of Portland, Oregon, Greg Porter has worked in Intel Corporation’s marketing group for the past 17 years. Greg personally embodies our vision for Waves of Service. In the midst of his busy life, Greg has mentored many Pepperdine students, founded Pepperdine’s Portland alumni chapter, served as chapter president, and taken personal vacation time to train Pepperdine employees in workshops organized by our Center for Human Resources. Greg has chaired the hospitality and membership committee of his local church and organized and led Intel’s Bible-based Christian Network, a work-based volunteer Bible study program. | CHAPTERS AND REGIONAL UPDATES WAVES OF SUCCESS Pepperdine Entertainment Network in the Spotlight The Center for Entertainment, Media, and Culture is quickly making a name for itself with the establishment of the largest and most active “virtual” network of Pepperdine alumni. Alumni can connect with peers in the industry through PAN Online, Facebook, as well as through regionally scheduled events. The Pepperdine Entertainment Network has announced the first in a series of industry conversations with leaders in the field, beginning on November 12 in Beverly Hills with David Weil, CEO of Anschutz Film Group. | | NEWS PCH Challenge Separated by 19.1 miles of scenic coastline, longtime crosstown adversaries Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine have come together in an effort to boost their decades-long rivalry with the creation of the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) Challenge. The series will serve as an annual scorecard for the NCAA-sponsored athletic contests between the Lions and Waves. LMU and Pepperdine will be represented by 12 of their intercollegiate athletic teams through both regular and postseason competitions over the course of the academic calendar. Aspen Institute’s second biennial “Beyond Grey Pinstripes” survey reaffirmed the Graziadio School on its “Global 100” list and scored student opportunities that are socially/environmentally focused in the Top 39 worldwide. President Nominates MBA Alumnus for Foreign Aid Agency Daniel W. Yohannes (MBA ’80), is President Obama’s CEO nominee for the government development entity Millennium Challenge Corporation, working with some of the poorest countries in the world to reduce global poverty through the promotion of sustainable economic growth.
