Waves Advance to the MPSF Men's Volleyball Finals
On April 30, the men's volleyball team defeated Cal State Northridge in the semifinals in a 3-1 victory. The Waves will advance to the finals, pitted against #5 USC on Saturday, May 2 for the MPSF title and a berth to the four-team NCAA National Championship. Pepperdine Honors 2009 Distinguished Alumni
Each spring, Pepperdine honors alumni who have excelled professionally and personally at graduation ceremonies of all five schools. This year's honorees are Alan Beard ('94, MPP '99), Dr. Neva Chauppette (PsyD '92), John Figueroa (MBA '97), Barbara Jones (JD '89) and Sam Schmidt (BS '86, MBA '87).

WAVES OF SUCCESS:
Los Angeles Waves Westside Luncheons Offer a Valuable Bite to Chew
The Los Angeles Waves chapter has been diligently working to bridge the gap between alumni, parents and friends in similar career fields. For the past few months, there have been Westside Luncheons focused on key professional industries. Past events have featured panelists in the public relations and marketing career fields, as well as faculty member and director Tom Shadyac speaking on the entertainment industry. May will address women in business. Special thanks goes to chapter leaders Matt Davis (BS ’06), Katie Vaughan (BA ’06) and Shalini Trehan (BS ’05) for their commitment and service to Pepperdine.

Alumnus and Former Coach Nominated for the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame
Terry Schroeder
(BA '81), former head coach of the Pepperdine men's water polo team and the U.S. Olympic men's water polo team, has been nominated for the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame. Schroder says, "It's an honor to be in this group; it's a pretty incredible group of athletes." Fans can cast their votes for Schroeder online
through June 16, and an induction ceremony will occur on August 12 for those chosen. More...

Starting this fall, the Graziadio School will introduce a new six-part entrepreneurship emphasis, retooled for Full-time and Fully Employed MBA students wanting to translate a creative vision into a real business that both produces wealth and expresses their personal values.

Friends of George Graziadio Golf Tournament Sets Fundraising Record
In spite of a difficult economy, the sixth annual Sovereign Capital Management Friends Of George Graziadio Golf Tournament raised about $140,000 for vital school programs and scholarships. The Graziadio School extends a special thank you to tournament chair William L. MacDonald, CEO of Retirement Capital Group; our "Best Friend" Honoree Alfred A.
